Dry fly fishing in Iceland - July 2014

Written by Stjani. Posted in News.

paul procter laxardalurJuly is arguably the best month for dry fly fishing in Iceland. Some people (myself included) like risking it a little and opt for late June but the most stable dry fly fishing, hatches and weather conditions are in July. Arguably the best dry fly fishing in Iceland is on the river Big Laxa and most serious dry fly fishermen prefer the Laxardalur beat since there the biggest fish live. For quantity of fish the beats below the dam, Myvatnssveit beat and a tributary of Big Laxa, Reykjadalsa, are the best.

In July we have some dates available on the Big Laxa River on all beats but the Laxardalur is nearly sold out and we only have days in late July available. On Myvatnssveit beat we have a little more available in July. On Reykjadalsa we have only a few rods here and there but July is likely to be sold out soon.

We can combine dry fly fishing for brown trout with some Arctic char fishing on Brunna in early July as we have 2 days available on Brunna from July 2. - 4. We also have a few days left on Litla River in early July but these dates only became available due to cancellation and they are likely to sell out quickly.

Trout fishing in Iceland - Spring 2014

Written by Stjani. Posted in News.

trout litla springThe last weeks have been very busy for us at Iceland Angling Travel and it seems there are still plenty of people who want to come fishing in Iceland. The dates we have for fishing are getting booked up very quickly these days and things move fast. We would like to report on some of the available fishing we have for the 2014 fishing season in Iceland.

Starting with April there are a few rods available here and there for that spring brown trout and sea trout fishing on Litla River. Fantastic option for anyone aking to get started and hunt some trophy trout.

In May the options pick up a bit. First we have to tell you about the last rod available for Huseyjarkvisl from May 5. - 8. chasing spring sea trout. More info here. In May we also have Litla River on offer and there is a chance to do some trophy trout hunting for a bargain. May is the month when the best fishing is on Lake Thingvellir for some serious trophy trout hunting. This is the lake you've probably read about in Trout & Salmon or even seen a Youtube video or two from this lake. Brown trout up to and over 20 pounds caught on the fly and we've hired the expert to guide you there. Fantastic option that can be combined with some river fishing, for example on Litla. Late May we have 4 days on Huseyjarkvisl for brown trout and the chance for sea trout as well. Great price on fishing with a nice cabin included.

In June we have rods on Reykjadalsa here and there with only 4 days where all the rods are available. June is getting booked solid on Reykjadalsa so if you want to secure your spot you need to move quickly. On Big Laxa we have some rods available on all beats but they are getting scarce. Huseyjarkvisl we have 3 days available but then the river is sold out for June. Litla we have some spots as well as 2 days in the end of June on Brunna

In the next few days we will report on the fishing we have available in July and August.
