Fishing in Iceland starts today

Written by Stjani. Posted in News.

huso spring 2014The fishing season is finally upon us. After 6 months of one of the hardest winters I can remember the date we've all been waiting for is finally here. Fishing season in Iceland starts today. Although I'm optimistic I don't think the fishing will be great for the first day as it is cold here in Iceland today, very cold.

I start the season with guiding for 6 days for sea run brown trout on the south coast, opening up one river and being the second group on the next. I look forward to the coming week and hope to report on the fishing as it goes.

Tight lines,
Stjani Ben

Spring is in the air

fishing in iceland vididalsaAfter one of the worst winters I can remember in terms of weather it's finally starting to feel like spring and again I look forward to fly fishing in Iceland. Although I'm basing this on just one absolutely stunning day yesterday it is starting to be light at eight in the morning and it's still light out at five in the afternoon. Yesterday the sun was shining and it managed to melt some of the ice on the roads. With just one month to go to the start of the season in Iceland we start our countdown. All over the country locals are buffing their fly lines, filling their boxes with flies and getting ready. My start of the season is an epic 6 day sea trout fishing trip on the south coast of Iceland that I'm guiding. It's going to be a great year!

Tight lines,
Stjani Ben
